|In the latest wave of department store closures, Sears at Town Center at Boca Raton mall will close in early April.
Sears Holdings Corp. (NYSE: SHLD) announced late Thursday that it would shutter 103 Sears and Kmart locations nationwide amid slumping sales. The only South Florida store on that list is the Sears at 5900 W. Glades Road in Boca Raton.

|Seritage Growth Properties broke ground on the Esplanade at Aventura, which will replace the Sears at the Aventura Mall.
Demolition of the big-box Sears store started on Friday. The New York-based company (NYSE: SRG) will build 215,000 square feet of retail and restaurants in an open-air setting full of shade trees out outdoor seating.

Target will close its Lauderhill location at 7730 West Commercial Boulevard on Feb. 3.
The retailer’s nearest location is a SuperTarget, a department store and grocery store, at 12801 West Sunrise Boulevard.
